Bamboo

Bamboo for the frame is processed as follows;

Step1. Split a bamboo into eight parts from the root end. you can obtain sixteen parts from two bamboos.Process each bamboo frames so that it has about 25mm wide.

Step2. Strip off the green skin of the bamboo so as to be polished at the finish process.

Step3. Prepare the following frames of dimension;

First frame: width=15mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 1 piece
Second frame: width=13mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 1 piece
Third frame: width=13mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 1 piece
Forth frame: width=13mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 1 piece
Fifth frame: width=15mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 1 piece
Center frame: width=13mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 2 pieces
Side frame: width=13mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 4 pieces
Diagonal frame: width=14mm, depth=3mm, length=1000mm 4 pieces

Step4. Process the bamboo joint so as to be straighten by pressing with a vise after heating by a candle. If you can not successfully process to straighten, flatten a bamboo joint with a file.

Step5. Dry the bamboo frames naturally during one month under sunshine. If you start with the dried bamboo, this prpcess will be unnecessary.

Step6. Polish second frame to forth frame with fine sandpaper and cloth sheet impregnated with oil.

Step7. Comfirm the bow of frame so as to have an equal bending feature for both ends.


Brass pipe for the frame connection is processed as follows;

Step1. Prepare a brass pipe which has dimension of 9mm diameter, 0.3mm thickness, 300mm long.

Step2. Cut this pipe into four pieces which length is 100mm long each with iron sow.

Step3. Process these pipes with vice and hammer as shown in the drawing.It is better to use a master to shape pipes.


Make three pipes of this shape for the connectors of center frame and side frames. We call this pipe as pipe A.


Make three pieces of this shape for securing center frame and side frames to the first frame.We call this pipe as pipe B. This pipe is secured to the first frame.
