This kite is a modern version of the original one
developed by Pino Noto and published on Cervi Volanti magazine, item 42d of
1994.
It's an exellent flyer for weak and medium winds, very elegant and easy
enough to make.
This isn't the original project because I made this kite by a
photo.
Pino Noto sent me the original magazine article with project and I add them to my page.
And now the kite description.
It's made up by a front wing a), a back wing b), two keels c), d), a keel spar e) and a trasversal spar f), over a little whisker g).
Both spars are curved : the trasversal one is bent by
front wings and keel spar is pushed down by this arc.
A little string h) connect two wings
together.
Spars are fixed together by a 3
cm long rubber pipe with two perpendicular holes.
All details to sew half
wings and keels together and how to make dacron loops at spars tunnel ends are
the same as for Delta.
Side picture show a keel section and its shape when the kite is assembled.
Bridle line is attached on kite "nose" and on
indicated point.
Kite fly angle can be easy modifyed changing line attach
point on bridle line.
On side picture all wings are drawn flats and with keels
sewn.
Down keels edge and back wing leading edge take a tunnel for spars
while all other edges are simply borded by hems.
All spinnaker fabric stressed points needs dacron reinforcements, wings tips ends with dacron loops or metallic rings and a chord loop that get on an arrow nock at the spar end.
In the same way you can fix keel spar at the kite "nose" and at the back keel end.
All spars are 6 mm diam. fiber carbon tube, keel spar is
1700 mm long and trasversal spar is 1900 mm, it's divided on 3 pieces foe easy
kite assembling.
It's bette to cut off all spars after kite construction
because the lenght can be slighty different from given lenghts.
Whisker is an 3 mm diam. fiberglass and it's fixed to keel
with two dacron pockets.
This draw show spinnaker nylon cut template, all dimension
are in mm and need to add 6 mm for hems and 36 mm for spars tunnels.
Front wing leading edge is curved to be very taut on fly, a 4-5 cm
camber is racomanded.
Back keel spar tunnel is curved too and shaped
with the same camber to follow spar arc.
It's raccomanded for this kite a ribbon tail to increase fly stability and kite beauty.
