Building Steps of HATA

Step-01
Prepare a bamboo stick which is 10mm wide, 8mm depth and 700mm long. Details of area A is shown in step 8. Details of area B is shown in step 9.

Step-02
Length of horizontal bone made by bamboo is 820mm. This frame is bowed by string as shown in step 11 using the string as shown in step 04. At the center of the frame, its dimenshion is 8mm wide and 8mm depth.

Step-03
This is calld as "hyu" and it is binded at each side of kite and acts as a stabilizer of HATA. This is made by sliced paper or narrow width of paper tape.

STEP-04
This is a string to make the forms of kite and bamdle the frame firmly.

STEP-05
This is a string for flying kite.

STEP-06
This is string for the bridle.

STEP-07
Bandle the frames of vertical and horizontal frame at point B with string firmly. Details of binding is shown in step 8 and step 9.

STEP-08
This drawing shows the details of binding of cross point of the frames.

This shows the details of cross point of the frames.

---

STEP-10
Step 10 through step shows the forming steps of the frame. Be careful to bind the frame precisely according to the plan.
The key point is to form the kite frame with balanced dimension.

STEP-15
Prepare the washi paper for the sail of kite. Hatched areas are for paste.

STEP-16
Fold the paste area along the formed line and paste firmly and precisely.

STEP-17
Attatch "Hyu" at the both end of kite and bind the bridle to the cross point of the frame and toe bottom end of vertical frame.
The center of the bridle is mm from the top of kite.
